October 2nd-5th 1995
After the fall of the soviet union, Georgia has become a super power in the Caucasus region, and has adopted an expansionist mindset. In August, Georgia began an invasion of Adjara, a NATO ally, in response a NATO Task Force began Operation Adjari Freedom Operation Adjari Freedom was a failure. Despite the air strikes in Adjara, Georgia still has a firm hold on the country. Over involvement of politicians in the campaign limited the effectiveness of NATO Strikes. The No Fly Zone was lifted and Georgia was able to take delivery of Mig 29s, Mig 23s, Mig 21s, and more SU25s. Over the course of the last week, Georgia has invaded South Ossetia in a full air and ground campaign. Abkhazian Air Force Pilots launched an Air Campaign against Georgia in a desperate attempt to bleed the Georgian War Machine. These brave pilots used Abkhazian variants of F15s, F14s, F16s, F18s, and Mirage F1s that were gifted to them when NATO Pulled out of the region.
Conclusion
The Abkhazian Air Force fought a desperate struggle against the Georgians, shooting down as many enemy aircraft as they could, but taking heavy losses. Many brave Abkhazian Air Force pilots sacrificed themselves for the fight. This was not in vain however, Over 30 enemy aircraft were shot down, with many more either destroyed or critically damaged in the raid on Tibilisi airfield. Despite their best efforts however, South Ossetia has fallen to the Georgians on October 10th. In response, NATO has officially announced Operation Urgent Watch, starting officially on October 15th. Operation Urgent Watch is NATOs attempt at halting Georgian expansionism with a No Fly Zone, and possible strategic bombings if necessary.
